A COVID-19 ARTIST-LED ONLINE RESIDENCY
21.07 – 28.08.2020

Reimagining the future of art and arts practice

Community Transmissions is an artist-led inititative that asks ‘so now, what’s next?’. In response to the uncertainty facing live artists as a result of Covid-19, together with artist Luna Mrozik Gawler, Ana Tiquia & All Tomorrow’s Futures founded Community Transmissions: a six week structured and funded residency providing financial and community support to live artists wanting to re-imagine, experiment with, and adapt their practices to an uncertain post-pandemic future.

Through a national open call, 12 Australian artists working across eight new projects were selected to participate. Combining weekly group workshops and guest talks with international and local speakers from art, design and futures practices, artists explored questions of futures and futurity in relationship to their practices, the role of art in times of transition and transformation, and the possibilities of art as a practice of futuring. New work and work in progress developed over these six weeks was presented in Uploading – a weekend-long online exhibition and live performance program.
